Term to define dressing up as a pre-established character. Usually, cosplaying is reserved for characters in anime, manga, video games, or movies. Sometimes the outfits are simple, like a catgirl, and in other instances can be very complex. Cosplay is most highly regarded when made at home, but outfits can easily be purchased from stores online as well. It usually refers to the outfits, but can also refer to acting the part of the character as well.
