K-ON! cosplay consists of Japanese high school girls who join a music club to save themselves from being abolished. The main character is Yui Hirasawa that is often imitated in costume wear, as she has no experience play musical instruments- but, she then in turn teaches herself to be a fantastic guitar player. After the girls have played through the comic book and attend a university they sustain their band and their musical passion. There are five main characters in the band that perform anime theme songs. Yui Hirasawa is not very good in school and gets distracted by music, and other details.

Although she never gains weight, she is very attentive when it comes to food and eccentric. She is limited to improving one skill at a time and she cannot bring herself to focus on her grades at school. She has a great voice and becomes admirable in school. She is a very upbeat K-on cosplay character that enjoys comedy and being sarcastic to those around her. Her mannerisms are very abrupt, but when it comes to success she doesn't give up or step down. This is a four panel comic strip that has been published in various magazines and most often revolves itself around the girls in college and on music.

There is a K-ON video game that is incorporated into the K-ON! cosplay and it has been developed by Sega. This was released into the market in 2010 and it includes songs from their first season and first group of characters. In this video game you have the option of customizing their outfits and their accessories, which has been the center of many cosplay costumes. The first volume series of K-ON! sold over 8,000 copies and it was in the top 10 ranking of the 2009 Oricon charts. The blu-ray disc sold over 30,000 copies within the first week and it become one of the best selling series. In 2010 the government used K-ON! to promote the census and motivate people in being counted. Many of the character's outfits revolve around regular school girl costumes or rock star outfits that better represent the band when they are on stage.

With a diverse color scheme and endless ways to incorporate one's own accessories, this is a very common K-ON! cosplay costume- especially for girls at a young age. The colors represent each of the characters, a couple of the more popular cosplay outfits are black and are then accessorized with fake instruments or microphones. This is the center stage of many parties for young girls who choose their own character and play it out accordingly. Unlike many of the anime cosplay stories, this is age appropriate and a motivation for women who don't feel the inspiration in following their dreams or initiatives. With all of the copies in games and DVDs that were sold after it's released its most likely that they are going to continue and add on to the series. Although there has been a re-make with new characters, the story line is very moving and optimistic.
