Cosplayer of the Week: Misa

Follow Cosplay Shopper on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ for all of our anime and cosplay updates!

Last week, we featured the elegant Asuka on our blog – cosplay, though, has always been about valuing variety between costumes, looks, and interpretations. So today, we’ll be bringing you a feature on another famous cosplayer, who, with her huge, dolly eyes, falls more toward the “cute” end of the spectrum: Misa!

Misa, a cosplayer from Taiwan, is the definition of sweet: standing at a dainty height of 5’1″, even her outward demeanor and physical features exude a cute, delicate beauty that makes her look like she stepped right out of an anime jumped from the cover of a manga into real life.

With the key combination of circle lenses, innocent, light makeup, and a distinctly rounded face, Misa’s soft appearance embodies the adorable essences of many of the characters she cosplays, such as Kuriyama Mirai from Beyond the Boundary:

Yet “cute” isn’t all that Misa excels at – quite the contrary, actually. Having cosplayed a huge variety of characters, Misa gives us a glimpse of her makeup, photoshop, and modeling skills by altering her look to suit the character that she’s cosplaying, despite the “limits” of her inherent cuteness. Although we’ve been following her for a while, we were stunned silent by her recent Jinx cosplay from League of Legends:

It’s quite the departure from her previous cosplays, and yet she pulls it off incredibly well: the crazed expression, grayed skin, and bright, exaggerated colors all capture the essence of her character. Between the two extremes of cute and crazed, though, she’s also done some impressive armor-clad cosplays, such as her Ezreal cosplay:

We know her for her interest in League of Legends, and it’s awesome that she tries out a huge range of cosplays from this game no matter how complex the outfit or how extreme the look. This shows her dedication and passion both for cosplay and League – and we find it admirable that she doesn’t rely on her anime-like face to attract attention but rather her skills.

Be sure to check out more of Misa’s work at her WorldCosplay page, and if you can read Chinese, check out her Weibo for personal updates as well. Misa also has a fanpage on Facebook that you can follow to have her grace your timeline with her cosplaying presence!

Until next week, CosplayShopper fans! Meanwhile, stay tuned until Saturday to find out who we’ll be featuring on our page this week with our exclusive interviews!
