Blue, or the self-proclaimed “Prince of the Llama Kingdom,” is a 20 year old cosplayer from Singapore and our featured cosplay interviewee this week! In addition to sewing, the humble Blue is also interested in the nitty-gritties of cosplaying, such as wig-styling – we loved hearing what she had to say about her cosplay experience!

CS: Our starting question is always about beginnings: can you tell us what first got you into anime, manga, and cosplay?
B: I was around 16-17 years old when I first started cosplaying. I’ve been attending conventions and watching/ reading anime and manga wayyy before that though, and have always admired cosplayers so when my classmate at that time randomly invited me to try cosplaying, I just gave it a go.

CS: What is your favorite aspect of cosplaying and attending conventions?
B: My sewing has always been very basic and I often use the ‘as long as it looks and works ok’ mentality for it. I like prop-making but I’m often really lazy to get about doing it. My favourite would have to be wig styling, to be honest. I just love playing around with hair and styling them into all sorts of hairstyles. But I’m still in the process of learning as it is now, haha! I love making new friends too!

CS: On the other hand, what is the most difficult part of cosplaying for you?
I’d have to say that it’s either sewing or prop-making but it’s probably sewing, especially if the costume is complex!

CS: Most of our cosplayers have been cosplaying for a pretty long time. Through all this time, what are some of your happiest memories related to cosplaying?
B: I’m always happy when I cos with my friends and we all just derp around and just have fun at the shoot/ convention. I love it when I get to kick cosplays off my bucket list though! Cosing from my favourite series with friends always make me happy!

CS: What is something that you think makes you unique as a cosplayer?
B: Ah, to be honest, I think I’m not that unique as a cosplayer. There’s so many other cooler and more unique cosplayers around! If I really had to name something… Maybe my shota-ness? Haha, I really don’t know!

CS: Is there a costume of yours that holds a special place in your heart?
B: All the costumes from my childhood anime! Characters like Seta Soujiro, Ginji Amano, Li Syaoran, Megaman.. All my favourite characters from my favourite series will always have a special place in my heart!

CS: Are there any cosplayers or artists who have inspired you to improve and share your cosplay with the world?
B: Oh man, there are so many! But one that I definitely looked up to even before I started cosplaying would be Ghostkiller! She makes such an awesome GACKT and I’ve always admired how she manages to give the viewers so much feels when looking at her coses.

CS: And lastly, we’ll be giving you a final question related to music! Can you recommend to our readers a favorite childhood track?
B: Well, this isn’t really a favourite childhood track but this definitely one my favourite songs: Home by Pay money To my Pain
As for childhood track…there are so many to choose from, but since I’ve just cosed Ginji recently.. Barairo no Sekai by Pierrot (can’t find the original MV so this is the live version) ☆
